  1. What is left over...

    Monday, 15 November 2010

I've been south, helping my very precious, dear friend prepare her wedding day.

The nuptials were Saturday, and I've never seen a more deliriously happy bride in my life. Especially one that was so sure she'd never, ever want to marry.

She's about to cry here... walking down the aisle with her dad.

Love, especially when gifted by God, is such a beautiful, life changing thing.

     RenĂ©e & Kevin

The quote they placed in their order of service was so very apt to them and their story, and I'd like to share it here, as a reminder for all those married (including myself!) that love is so much more than heart flutterings and "in love-ness".

Be blessed in your marriages today and onwards.

"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two."
    ~ St. Augustine

    Thanks for chiming in :)

I really promote conversation here, and I only ask that you be considerate of others feelings, and remember that tone doesn't always translate well over type. An emoticon can work wonders! ;)
