Almost traded in
Sunday, 22 August 2010
Amy has a habit of tacking on a sentence to every request, because, for some reason, she thinks it holds weight...
"Fweeze? I be your best fwend!"
We're trying to encourage her that this isn't the best attitude to have when asking people for something.
Actual conversation that took place on Friday after I told her that no, she couldn't have what she wanted...
Amy: "My not your best fwend, then"
Me: "I'm not here to be your friend, I'm here to be your mother"
Amy: "My find another mother"
Me: *eyebrow raise* "Will you now?"
Amy: "yes"
I walked to the front door, opened it, gestured...
Me: "off you go then".
She walked out, and only made it to the end of the driveway before she started crying. I watched her out the window until she came back to the door, and she informs me...
Amy: "My can't find another mother"
Me: "Can't you?"
Amy: *shakes her head*
Me: "Would you like to come back home?"
Amy: *Nods yes*
Me: "Ok. I love you!"
Amy: *trots back inside* "Love you mummy!"
It was hilarious :)Posted by Jen at Sunday, August 22, 2010 | Labels: Amy, Children, Conversations with Kids, cuteness, Kids, parenting, That's just FUNNY | 4 comments | Email This BlogThis! Share to X Share to Facebook |

FOR MY SIXTH, AT TEN WEEKS
Wednesday, 9 June 2010
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.~ Ruth Hulbert Hamilton "Song for a Fift Child"~Posted by Jen at Wednesday, June 09, 2010 | Labels: Children, Cora, cuteness, family, Gratitude, Love, Poetry | 4 comments | Email This BlogThis! Share to X Share to Facebook |

My Kid is Awesome.
Thursday, 20 May 2010
Adam started Operation: Skinny-Up on Monday, and yesterday was his first work out session with my brother, who is a trained PT for the Navy.
He's a bit buff.
Adam called me on the way home and said three words"He's a bastard."
Anyway, he got home and went promptly to the shower, sitting down in it with the stream of water flowing over him.
Eli, thinking that Daddy was having a bath, figured he wasn't doing it right, after seeing me have a few, and bought him a book.
How is that for awesomesauce?

Enchanted Door
Thursday, 17 July 2008
I love these. I think they are adorable.
It's a little tiny "Fairy Door". You put them in your house so the Faeries can come in.
I'd love one. I love the magical-ness of it...
But at the same time, it seems another way to let the demonic easy access to our homes. Their very own door?
What are your thoughts? Harmless charming fun? Or a gateway to trouble?
"Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will cause terror. Isaiah 47:12
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." Revelation 21:8Posted by Jen at Thursday, July 17, 2008 | Labels: Bible, cuteness, Faith | 4 comments | Email This BlogThis! Share to X Share to Facebook |
